Volume 11 SS and Volume 12 SS

As I said earlier this month, this months releases were going to be some short stories. The volume 11 SS happens before the events of volume 9. I would set it to sometime during the month and a half that Sweet covers. Anyways it does a fairly decent job of setting the stage for volume 11’s prologue. Maria takes center stage and is pretty funny with how enthused she is.

Regarding the volume 12 SS If you read the series in order then I wouldn’t read it since it’s kinda spoiler heavy. If the bromance of Basara and Lars is your OTP then you might enjoy it, because the banter between the two of them is always great. Especially considering how Lars is a realist and knows that harems usually never work as out well.

Happy Valentines Day

Whether you’re alone or plan on spending today with your significant other, Happy valentines day! Just figured I would remind those that already know or inform people that don’t know, Mio and Kurumi attempted to pass off store bought chocolate as homemade. Thankfully a certain upperclassman showed them the error of their ways, and taught them how to properly make homemade chocolate. They still have tendencies to burn stuff due to needing to be supervised in the kitchen. Either way whatever you do it’s not about the dollar amount you spend, but it’s the thought that counts.

Why the site was down yesterday

Hopefully not too many people were freaking out and acting as if the sky was falling. Anyways, I thought I would let you know that the site was down due to a terms of service violation. Shinmai’s content doesn’t fit within wordpress.com so the original site was suspended and I had to make a move. I probably should have been self hosting a while ago, but here we are now. Good news is you no longer have to deal with the ugly wordpress.com ads that were on the original site. I’ve moved most of the content from the original site to here, and the migration team should have the rest of the site up and looking good over the next 48 hours or so.

Full Volume 10 posted

As promised, I posted volume 10 sometime by the end of the month. I’m still curious as to whether or not some people will still say that a season 3 would be all sex and no plot. My favorite moments in the volume would have to be when Chisato shows up, because she’s a scene stealer every-time she shows up. Her line at the end of part 22 of chapter 2 plays an important role in volume 11. Basara’s nightmare scene takes the crown though. It’s pure “feels”.  If you weren’t already aware of it, Shiba is a legit savage, and it just goes to show how far under Basara’s skin he actually gets. It also makes volume 11 epilogue and volume 12 interactions interesting in hindsight. With the nightmare scene we also got to see the version of Basara that gives up on himself, that Sheila was so concerned about back in volume 8. Enough with my rambling, enjoy.

Still haven’t decided if we’ll be releasing volume 11 or one of the side story volumes next, so stay tuned.

Akiba blog’s yearly ranking

For those of you that don’t know, Akiba blog annually releases a top ten list in terms of articles that have the most user views over the year. Unfortunately Shinmai wasn’t able to repeat and take the top spot two years in a row. A second place finish is still respectable though considering all of the R18 stuff in the top ten. They also have a ranking of popular articles by month. So if your favorite series didn’t make the top ten feel free to check the monthly rankings to get a general idea of the buzz surrounding some of your favorite series. Anyways I’m going to go enjoy some New Years festivities. Stay safe, Drink responsibly, and enjoy bringing in the new year.

unrelated: I uploaded the complete prologue of volume 10. I might be doing updates to sample translations for some of the other volumes in the event I’m not bombed when I wake up tomorrow.

Volume 9 released

DXcOTyhVMAAkunM

As promised, I publicly released volume 9 today. You’ll find it in the “sample and volume translations” for volume 9. I’m waiting for a graphic to be finished, so those of you interested in a PDF will have to wait until that’s finished.

For those of you that watched Departures and are looking to see what happens next, you might as well pick up the novel and start reading volume 9. Volume 9 more or less serves as the reintroduction of the Hero Clan into the series. One of my issues with the first half of the series, has always been that it focused way too much on the Demons. The focus on the Hero Clan was a much needed change of pace, which worked well for the series. One of my favorite characters, Celis finally gets her introduction. Unfortunately you only get to see one side of her in volume 9.

I have to go post translation updates for donors. Stay tuned for volume 10’s public release.

*edit this post will be updated with my soap box rant on why you should support the series and purchase the raws even if you can’t read japanese.*

Big Announcement: Public Releases

Testament_of_Sister_New_Devil_Screenshot_0299

Apologies for making folks stay tuned a bit longer than originally suggested.

The topic of public release has been heavily debated internally among our translators, fellow donors, and myself. This decision has been a long time in the making. Internally the idea has always been that once we finished translating the remainder of the main series that we would begin publicly releasing volumes. Since we’re getting ready to wrap translation through volume 12, we’re going to start publicly releasing volumes. We’ll be starting public releases with volume 9, volume 10 will follow after, and so forth.

If you aren’t a donor, I still encourage you to donate so that you don’t have to wait for public release. As in the past, you’ll get instant access to all of the volumes and other Shinmai related media that has been translated through the project. Volume 13 is the last volume in the main series that’s still in need of funding, So you’ll be getting access to that as it’s translated ahead of public release. You’ll also gain access and a say in other light novels that the group decides to have picked up for translation. There’s also other Shinmai related media projects that are currently in the pipeline that you’ll have access to as well.
